Bible/Book Cover Instructions
Hoop your stabilizer (that you
do    not cut away) fabric and
WSS         stabilizer together . I
recommend  2 layers of valine
or other mesh      fiber WSS.
Place your WSS on top of the
fabric.  The stabilizer you use
should cut clean with no fuzzies.
After the first color thread has
  finished, turn over you hoop
and    carefully cut away the
stabalizer     and fabric as close
to the stitching  line as you
possibly can. carefull    not to cut
through your WSS. Trim  your
cuts very clean leaving no
fabric to unravel while sewing.
get into you corners good. The
cleaner the lines the better your
stitch out. I use very sharp
manicure scissors purchased
from the drug store. When
trimming is complete,return to
the machine for the next color.
Take your spine and fold your
sides in to make a finished 2"
spine. Find the center of you
strip and notch.
Place the notch on you cover
center notch and sew onto the
cover.
This is what your spine should
look like. you can monogram the
spine or put decorative stitching
to add more of a decorative look
to your finished cover.
Next trim you piping to 1/2"
instead of the 5/8".  Start the
piping at the bottom of your
spine about 1/4" from the right
side of your spine seam.
When you come to a corner,
snip the piping at an angle when
the end of the snip is 1/2" from
the corner.
Turn your fabric and pull the
piping so you get a good sharp
corner and continue sewing. Do
the same at each corner.
When you get to the end of the
piping, cut about 1/4" from the
left side of the spine seam.
Cut the cord of the right side of
the piping to where the left side
meets the cut. Fold about 1/4 "
of the right side and finger
press.  Place the left side onto
the folded side. .
Close and continue sewing to
complete piping.
Your finished top cover
fold over and mark center for tab
The fold top and bottom up to
center to find strap placement
on both sides. Notch
Fold strap pieces to achieve the
size you want your straps to be.
My finished size is 1".
Sew down both sides.
Do the same for you closure
tab, but it needs to be wide
enough for your button or snap.
Place your straps on your
previous made notches
Then you tab
sew them in place. Then sew
you straps on the back side.
Place your snap
I placed my snaps before i got
the lining sewn on. I am havin to
do it the hard way here because
i got ahead of myself.
At this point here is where you
need to place your snaps.
Your finished closure
For the pockets, take your fabric
and fold it over, for a width of a
4" finish.
Zigzag the raw edge.
Then Seam the folded edge.
place the pocket on the edge of
the lining and sew in place. Turn
over and do the raw edge with a
shirt tail seam.
Do the same with the other side
of the lining piece. Your
completed pocket

Supplies Needed for Cover:
Approx: 1 yard fabric
57" large cord piping
Stabilizer that cuts clean, not to be cut away
Heavy duty Snaps for closure

Cover: Cut (1)  11" x 17" fabric and stabilizer
Lining: cut (2) 11" x 10" pieces of fabric. ( no Stabilizer)
Pockets: cut (2) 11" x 8" fabric and Stabilizer.
Spine: Cut (2) 11" x 3 " for double thickness and 11" x  2" stabilizer for lining of spine
Straps: Cut (2)  10" x 3 1/2" ( stabilizer optional, I did not use any)
Tab: Cut (1) 4" x 2 1/2" ( no stabilizer)

To prepare cover fabric for design:
Take the Cover fabric (11" x 17") and place on same size stabilizer and zigzag around edges.
Fold over and find center, then notch top and bottom and draw faint line from top notch to bottom
notch for spine placement.
Take right side of fabric and fold over  to 1" from center line drawn and finger press the fold for good
crease line.
Take the bottom of the fabric and fold to the top and finger crease the fold to the center spine line
 drawn.
Mark with tiny dot the center of the 2 creases, and in the center of the spine line you drew. Then
notch the outer right center edge . This will be your top, bottom, sides and center point  for hoop
placement.
Use your 5x7 hoop and hoop with you fabric, stabilizer and WSS and place into your machine. I
placed my WSS on top of the fabric and used 2 layers.
After the first color has sewn remove the hoop and turn to the backside. With Small SHARP
manicure scissors cut through your fabric and stabilizer to remove the designated material. Do not
cut through the WSS. Trim close to the stitch line and do not leave any thread pokies or visible
fabric alone the line. Do not worry if you nip a thread, it really will not matter.
After trimming return to the machine and finish the design as any other.
